WHERE IS
DELTA JUNCTION, ALASKA?
We live in a small interior Alaska community near the new Missile Defense Test Site, now located at the former Fort Greely Army Base. Our community is made up of farmers, military and civil service families, small business owners and Alaskan pioneers.  You'll find some who came to visit or were stationed here by the Army and decided they just couldn't leave.  Delta Junction is about 100 miles south east of Fairbanks, the nearest city.  Our climate is mostly a winter and a summer with very short spring and fall. Winter can be very long, dark and cold. But our reward for surviving winter is a beautiful, warm, mostly dry, with lots of daylight, summer.

My name is Gayle Parsons and I am "Gramma".  My husband and I live in Delta Junction, Alaska, 100 miles SE of Fairbanks.

We came to Alaska in 1993 from Maine where we both grew up.  In February of 2002, we became Grandparents of a Grandson and in April 2003 we gained a Granddaughter.  May, 2005, we welcomed a new Grandson.  December 2005 brought us a new Granddaughter and then another new Granddaughter arrived December 2006.  In May 2007, we welcomed a new step-grandson to our growing family.  Now we have a new little Granddaughter who arrived October 2008 !!!

In 2002, I started sewing stuff for the little ones and am offering similar things on my website.  Take a look - I'll be adding more items over the next few months.  As they grow into Toddlers, I'm working on "toy" type items and adding machine embroidery on many items.

You'll see pictures throughout the website of the grandchildren and a little nephew.  They try things out and enjoy getting new stuff from Gramma (or Aunt Gayle).

John stays busy working at Fort Greely and part time he runs Parsons' Truck & Auto Repair (907-895-5251) and goes hunting and fishing.

Feb 8, 2008  At our house here in Delta Junction, Alaska

This is what we recorded as our coldest temp this past winter.  About average.....  BUT - Summer temps can reach the mid 90's and with 24 hour daylight.  140 degree temperature difference!
Near where we live, Nov 4, 2006, about 3:30 pm I think it was.  A very full moon rising over farmland - Delta Junction, Alaska.  I took this picture.
